Land Surveying as an A La Carte Service

Commercial Site Design, a full-services civil engineering and land surveying firm specializing in multi-unit, rollout commercial developments, began offering land surveying to its engineering-only clients in 2004.  In 2006, Commercial Site Design opened its land surveying department to all prospects; offering surveying as a small part of the firm’s commercial development deliverables or as an a la carte service.

“We added surveying because we saw the benefit of having land surveyors coordinate with project managers and engineers, “says Brian Burchett, head of land surveying and civil engineering at Commercial Site Design.  “To help facilitate the development process and to do it in a timely manner, it’s important to have correct data; this starts with a survey.  It became apparent there was a demand in the development community for fast and accurate surveying services.”

Since opening its surveying department to firms looking for surveying services, Commercial Site Design has worked on more than 200 survey-only projects.

Commercial Site Design has developed plats ranging in size from quick-serve restaurants to retail strips, working with law firms, real estate firms, commercial development firms, and title companies.

“Our goal is to help further the development process,” says Brian Burchett.  “To do this, we focus on information design professionals need; drawing on more than 17 years of engineering experience in the commercial development industry.”

Firms interested in Commercial Site Design’s surveying services can choose from ALTA, boundary, topographic, ADA compliance, as-built, civil plans, storm system mapping, flood certification, construction staking or BMP certification.

Commercial Site Design is registered to perform land surveying in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia.
