On Tuesday, October 4, Krispy Kreme, a global retailer of premium-quality sweet treats, including its signature original glazed doughnut, opens a store in Statesboro, marking the company’s fifth location in Georgia.
The newest Krispy Kreme is situated at 190 Northside Drive, which was previously occupied by Title Max Pawn Shop.
Commercial Site Design, a Raleigh-based civil engineering firm specializing in multi-unit, rollout commercial projects, was tasked with redeveloping the 1.2-acre lot, located on a thoroughfare heading towards downtown Statesboro, into a site that met corporate standards while abiding by state and local requirements.
The site, while an ideal location for Krispy Kreme, came with a few important issues that needed to be addressed; gas main didn’t reach the property and Georgia Department of Transportation was hesitant to allow direct access to the site.
To accomplish the redevelopment and address these issues, Commercial Site Design guided the project through entitlement research, preliminary design, engineering and final close-out.
Commercial Site Design, a preferred civil engineer for corporate Krispy Kreme, has been selected as engineer of record on more than 200 Krispy Kreme sites.
Commercial Site Design’s permitting experience in Georgia amounts to 85 cities, including major locations like Atlanta, Athens, Augusta and Savannah.
